Tears for the Second Time
I was coming out of the bar
When I saw her.
She was wearing a back cocktail dress.
Her hair flowing to the middle of her back.
Darker that dark chocolate.
Her skin was the caramel
On top of my sundae.
Delicious.
I had to do it.
I filled in behind her
Following her footsteps.
She didn’t notice I was with her.
Perfect.
A few blocks pass and we
Are standing in front
Of her brownstone.
She searches for her keys
And I search for a spot to get in.
I went around back and tried a window.
It opened so easily.
She was a genius.
I slip in and looked around.
Nice and tidy.
I walk around the room
Listening to the soft thuds
My shoes make on the wooden floor
With every step.
The rhythmic thuds were interrupted
By the water coming from the shower.
I follow the noise.
A bathroom door is slightly ajar.
I touch the knob
And open it a little more.
The room s filled with steam.
I stick my head in.
The water is drowning out her humming.
The shower curtain
Is almost see through.
The shadow of her body is visible.
So curvy.
I come back to the hallway
And look for her room.
It wasn’t hard.
Her light was on.
I approach the room.
Inside there was soft music
Playing in the background.
Jazz.
I hate jazz.
I turned off the radio
When I found it.
A meow sounds
And I turn around.
An orange cat lays on the bed.
He hops off and
Runs out the room.
Probably to the bathroom.
Warn its owner I am here.
The water stops
And I can hear her bare feet
Smack against the floor.
I go to the closet.
I close the door only a little
So I can still see her.
When she arrives
The orange cat is right behind her.
He looks at the closet
And starts meowing like crazy.
She just bends down and pets him.
It doesn’t clam him down.
She takes her towel off
And I watch her every move
As she gets ready for bed.
She is very gorgeous.
Wishing
As she rubs lotion on her body
That it was me
Craving to touch
Her smooth skin.
I couldn’t watch any longer.
I had to talk to her.
I open the closet door.
She looks up with a jerk of her head.
She grabs for her towel
And wraps it around her.
She gets a good look at my face.
I can almost see the tears
Clouding her eyes.
Tears I have brought.
Again.
“Dave” she whispers
“What are you doing here?”
I can here the pain.
Pain that I have stirred.
I feel a sharpness
In my chest.
My heart is beating fast.
I take a step towards her.
She does nothing to protest.
I take another step.
She sits on her bed,
Looking at the floor.
As I get closer,
Her fragrance gets stronger.
Lavender.
I smile.
She always loved lavender.
I am a foot away from her.
She looks up at me.
One blink,
And the tears will all fall.
She stands,
Confusion all over her face.
A tear escapes
Trickling down her perfect face.
I wipe it away.
Allowing my hand
To linger on her cheek.
She brings one of her ands to mine.
A small smile
Is painted on her face,
She wraps her arms around me.
Squeezing me tight.
I embrace her as well.
Never wanting to let go.
“Don’t let me go” she begs.
I have once.
I won’t do it again.
“I love you Sarah”
Slips out my mouth.
She looks up at me.
Her face wet from tears.
“I love you too.’
She responds.
We stand there
Holding each other.
Once again,
I am happy.
